These Royal typewriters, along with the classic Underwood and Remington typewriters from the early 1900's appeal to me as they are so visual – you strike a key and the springs, levers and arms connect beautifully to stamp ink into the fibres of the paper. This stitched painting includes one of my favourite Oscar Wilde quotes.
The original artwork for this giclée print is a stitched painting I created on calico fabric with deep red and olive green embroidered threads, translucent silk papers with acrylic and watercolour paint. It is inspired by my love of detail and vintage objects. The original itself is no longer available but we can discuss a commission if you are interested in a similar one.
