Olympus in Green

12.00
At fourteen years old, I really wanted to become a photographer. The family camera then was an Instamatic Point-and-Shoot camera with flashcubes. If I was going to go pro, I needed something more sophisticated. Using my Paper Round and pocket money, I saved and saved up for this, my Olympus OM10 SLR camera. I loved its blinking aperture and flash gun. Here it is transformed into tones of green and orange.

The original stitched painting is a thread drawing created using fabrics, deep red thread (freestyle machine embroidery), translucent papers and acrylic paints. It is inspired by my love of vintage detail and my treasured Olympus camera.

Available as an original stitched painting and as a fine art giclée print
