In our house, bookshelves are not just homes for our books. Despite our best intentions, other parts of our lives creep onto them. Our child's bookcase is no exception as his toys, games and other paraphernalia have steadily migrated from where they should live, to take up residence with The Adventures of Peter Rabbit, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and some of his other books. I actually love how these cluttered corners or nooks evolve and come to reflect different aspects of his character, interests and the way in which he organises his world. Dr. Seuss sits happily alongside dinosaurs, cuddly toys and pieces of lego.
In this piece ¨Book Nook¨, the elements of the composition are all connected - balancing, resting, leaning or overhanging over one another and interlinked with one unbroken thread.
